The Challenge

Despite high literacy rates among the Tibetan exile population in India, unemployment and underemployment remain huge problems (underemployment and unemployment are estimated to be as high as 60% in some settlements).

Studies conducted by TechnoServe indicate that while citizenship issues do prevent Tibetans from being employed in certain fields, the lack of market-relevant skills and career information are often the biggest barriers to gainful employment.

The Solution

Under administration of Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala, the program will be implemented by Youth Empowerment Support, with Tibetan Career Centre, Dharamsala and network across all the Tibetan settlements in India.

YES TCC addresses the high unemployment and underemployment prevalent in Tibetan exile community.Consultants and placement officers will then work directly with Unemployed Tibetan youth to change career attitudes, create awareness about job opportunities, design career paths, build employment and training linkages, and equip youth with the skills that they need to succeed in their careers.
